For today’s post, I have decided to do a review of a movie that I watched the other day. Hopefully, this can serve as a guide for anybody who would like to see this movie for themselves or is just curious.
Movie: When Marnie was there
Year of release: 2014
Producers: Studio Ghibli/ Anime film.
Director: Hiromashi Yonebayashi
Synopsis: A young girl is sent to the country for health reasons. Over there she finds company in an unlikely source- A young girl named Marnie. As the twists and turns ( many!) begin to unravel, Marnie is becoming quite the protagonist.
My thoughts: I love Anime movies. They are a favourite of mine because of the beautiful animations and the clever storyline, which is usually filled with twists and turns. When Marnie was there is a fantastic movie. It has all the aspects of a well written movie and has a interesting plot. One thing that I particularly loved, was how you could relate to the characters, which I believe is very important. I definitely recommend this movie!
Rotten Tomatoes: 89%
Roger Ebert: 3/4
What the critics have to say:
Michael O’ Sullivan: ” There is a quality of enchantment to When Marnie Was There that can’t be faked, and that the studio behind this animated feature is justifiably famous for.”
Joe McGovern: ” The animation is dazzling!”
Kenneth Turan: ” It deals with friendship, loneliness, abandonment and forgiveness, and though it’s curious narrative arc means that you’re never sure exactly where it’s going, the film works up a considerable emotional charge by the end.”
Hopefully this has helped.
Thank you all…
