What makes the news: Today I’ll be looking at ‘Girlfriend.com’ and well, plain old ‘MSN’.

Hello beautiful people,

Today, I have a bit of a different post for you. I’m going to visit the two sites listed above and sort of compare- why do they post the content there, and how does it affect us- a community, a world?

These are the questions I’ve asked myself today, and I’m getting answers.

1. MSN

Okay, half of the news here is pretty general. The usual rambling about politics, celebrity goss and a few funny articles. From what I can tell, (and have read online) what seems to make the news is the articles that are current and not days/months/years old, but with exceptions. The article on ‘What killed Princess Di’ for example, is big right now, due to the documentary on her life having come out. She was lovely, and very famous. Boxes ticked, ticked, ticked. This is not recent, but there are lots of theories, and by the looks of it, an understanding has been reached. What else? Significance and proximity- A story that affects a substantial amount of people has a better chance of coverage as does a ‘local’ story, as per se. Also, prominence. Famous people are famous for a reason- others want to know about their lives, they want to meet them, they want autographs, and why exactly is this so? Well, think about it. They’ve been impressed once, they’re just coming back for more. While I wouldn’t consider everything online to be ‘news’, there really is something to suit each interest. Not everybody wants to hear about Donald Trump, and his latest mis(adventures).

Some of the more interesting articles I found.. there’s something for everyone!

I say interesting but what I really mean is kinda crazy. Lady, your ‘chocolate challenge’ is many things including stupid and undeniably racist. Yup, yup.

And this.. eek, you guys, he’s just a damn person. And no, I don’t believe that he’s the hottest person ever, cause just no.

And this, OF ALL THINGS THAT COULD’VE MADE TEEN NEWS! I can’t even. The media is seriously getting inside our heads and just plain dumbing us down.

In conclusion: This must be a bug issue, or we wouldn’t be learning about media techniques in school. That is in the syllabus now apparently, for Year 8 anyway. There is a helluva lot to learn, so what can I say? Good on me for making a start 😂

Recent reads + THUG (a book review)

Hey all!

I’m back with yet another post and this time I’ll be showing you some of the books I’ve been reading lately. I am an avid reader and it’s no chore for me, which pretty much means I go through books just like that, but I understand not everybody is the same. If you do happen to need a good read though, look no further than.. ❣

The Hate U Give (THUG)- A review on one of the most moving debuts of our time:

‘The hate you give little infants fucks everybody’

Starr Carter is a sixteen year old black girl in a white persons world. Her father, ‘Big Mav’ is a former drug dealer and gang member, and her mother Lisa, whose sole happiness comes from the protection of her family, is growing tired and wants something better.

When Starr is witness to the brutal shooting of her unarmed best friend Khalil Harris at the hands of a police officer, number one fifteen, her world begins to crumble, and she is taken to a dark place in her past. This is not the first time she has lost a friend to a hate crime..

Feeling more lost and out of place than ever, Starr struggles to hold onto the things that kept her sane- namely her friends and boyfriend Chris, but continues to return to the unspoken division between her.. and them.

When Starr is called upon to make a statement before a Grand Jury, she experiences the firsthand the prejudice that is still faced by many people of colour today, while also discovering horrifying details from that fateful night.

THUG is a moving novel from author Angie Thomas, exploring the theme of karma- what you give comes back to you, and more.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to receive a letter from yourself from the past?

I have, and what a surprise it was when I happened to come across futureme.org, a site that allows you to write letters and choose the date you want them delivered. Better still, you can do this for anyone.

I’m pretty sure that I came across this website a good six or so months ago, after hearing about it from another website, which I now recall to be theboredbutton one day when I was, yes, *boreeeeeed*

To death.

And you know what they say about that? “Intellectually advanced individuals experience a higher rate of boredom as they are just *TOO* intellectually advanced”.

Well, thank you (;

I’m extremely off topic already, so I’ll just gradually get back on track, and tell you all a little story. At the time, I’m pretty sure that I was destined to be off screens for a bit because I’d overused my electronic privileges, and needed to lay off a bit (RIP). Naturally, I was bored, even though it was the present day and not a good hundred years ago. That’s kids for you though.. no screens, no fun.

That’s my brother for you. Y’all hear that?

So, I went and checked out this fascinating new website, and wrote myself a nice, lengthy letter. I doubt that I’ll remember everything I said, but it went something like this..

“Hello beautiful!

You’re probably wondering what you were thinking as you wrote this. You’re probably wondering what it’s like to receive a letter from yourself. Well, right now, you’re sitting on the sofa watching TV. Maybe you’ll receive this letter at home, maybe in class.

Well, here’s what I’m thinking gorgeous: You are beautiful, worthy, loved, loving, and caring. You are a fantastic friend, daughter, partner, best friend, grandaughter and sister. You are enough.

so on, so on.”

Haha, scrap the last part. That’s just my memory failing me.

I happened to receive this lovely lovely a couple of days ago when I was going through a particularly difficult time. A mini depressive episode, and I was sinking into a familiar self hatred that I’ve harbored for years. What would you call that? Maybe fate. Luck?

Who’s to say at the end of the day?

Me or you? I’m not sure, but I do know what it feels like to receive a letter from yourself. It’s surprising, but the good sort.

Love you all,

Some exciting news: YouTube+ Blog upgrade!

Welcome back to another post!

Today I’ve got some exciting news to share: I’ve upgraded my blog to the personal blog membership, and I now have my own web domain. I’ve been looking to do this for a while, but didn’t get around to it til yesterday. This means no more ads, for a start, and more themes. Ahh, so satisfying.

And now for the best part of all- I now have a corresponding YouTube account. Why I decided to start one is a story in itself, actually. When I first looked at the plans available, I thought that with the personal plan came the option to be able to upload videos, but I was completely wrong. The disappointment when I found that out this morning was awfully real, but so was the exciting possibility of having a presence on yet another place- first Instagram, then Snapchat, WordPress, of course, and now YouTube.

I have currently set up my account, and I spent about an hour this afternoon personalising it. This evening, I filmed my first video- Part One of a journal flip through. At the moment, that should be uploading. I’m guessing it’ll take a while, so I’ll check back on that tomorrow morning and hopefully I’ll have something to show, haha.

Tomorrow, I’ll be watching some more videos and learning how to edit. If anybody has any video requests, I’ll be more than happy to listen!

Until then, you can find me at: infinitelyadaydreamer- Link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGtnTpSQI8AQbC8JgakDfPA

Until next time.. goodbye (:

S o u l f e e l s ~ Poetry for days

Soul feels,
is what I call it when I
am filled with a lightness that originates from my unexplored depths
or a great angst that threatens to tear down my walls and expose a certain fierceness

s o u l f e e l s is the beautifully tragic mess that is my very being, a selfish masterpiece, vibrant colour in the black and white folds of my mind

10 things to do when you’re sick of ‘the waiting game’

This applies to anything really, but most specifically to a first world problem that many current century, vaguely vain females face. (Including myself obviously!)

Don’t you just hate it when you have to wait for your nails to dry? Like, ain’t nobody got time for that. Girl, you deserve a perfect manicure regardless of your impatience, so read on, and hopefully your next nail painting experience will be productive.. and perfect, of course. 💅🏾👅

Just Dance!

No, not the game. Although, if you’ve got that, you’ll do just fine. Why not try dancing to your favourite music? Make up your own routines and say bye bye to the lame video clips.

Check your email, and respond to anything new.

Having trouble finding time to keep up to date with all those new messages cluttering your inbox? There’s no better time than the present, and people will think you to be super organised (which you’re not 🙍🏼)

Clear your inbox and hit the unsubscribe button.

While you’re at it, check for any junk emails, and clear, clear, clear, them all away. If there’s anything you’ve subscribed to that’s no longer relevant, unsubscribe from it. There is nothing more useless than useless mail. Seriously.

Play games on your phone (or laptop, or iPad)

This didn’t occur to me as a good idea until I realised just how long it takes for nails to dry. = A hell of a lot of gaming time. And well spent too! Before you know it, you’ll have lost track of time.

Download ‘Sing’ and show off your amazing karaoke skills!

Nuff said. 🎤

Try not to mind if your partner can’t sing, because you TOTALLY can(not).

Watch or binge watch a series:

It’s not like you haven’t seen these once, or twice, or thrice (That’s a word right?) but they never get old.

Time for a Riverdale and 13 reasons why marathon!

Lament the tragic fact that once you are done binge watching, you’ll have to wait *choke* months till the return of your much loved shows.

Oh, the tears. You may need to grab a life jacket before it’s too late!

Call up your friends and make conversation so they don’t forgot you.

Whoops, text. Does the new generation know calling is a thing?  *wink wink* Yes yes, I’m clued in.

Take Instagram worthy selfies and watch people break the like button.

This is a fun one, especially for all you self assured slaying baes 😍

Raid the kitchen and eat yourself (and your family!) out of house and home..

They’ll probably be a bit crabby with you when they get hungry, but a good go to answer is “And that’s how i wanna live my life, and i think everything is going to be just fine” in a really silly voice, so they are forced to laugh. 😏

(Or, you could post cringey pics of your girlfriend during her non exercise related  Maccas run. 🍔)

Forming healthy habits..

Welcome back gorgeous people!

Today I’d like you to give yourself a pat on the back and settle in, make yourself comfortable. Get your thinking cap on and read on for some inspiration (:

(PS. You may have noticed that I now have a graphic for my post.. I got this idea from another blog, and started using canva.com- highly recommended!)

Now.. there’s something I need to tell you all. Something very big, and something I’m damn proud of myself for having achieved. If you’ve been following my Yoga Journey, you’ll find that I blogged a bit on the topic of a challenge. To be specific: 31 days of  Yoga Revolution.. which I have now completed. Score, me. I’ll be telling you about the benefits I’ve experienced, my journey, and what happens now.

To keep this short and easy to read, I’ll start with a list on the benefits I’ve experienced-

~So much flexibility! This is a great one. For some weird reason, before I started Yoga, I couldn’t touch my toes, not even close. But, due to many hours of stretching and exercises within the practice, I do just fine.

~Improved mental capacity: Yes, I can think better!

~Better able to cope with stress: Lately, I’ve been experiencing eye blinking, and it occurs whenever I get stressed. A nervous tic. I do this A LOT less when I have done my workout.

~And the last one: I feel so much happier. I am more focused and enjoy my daily activities so much more when I am aware.

My journey <

Onto the second part of this post:

Not too long after starting this journey, I got a supposed sore throat, and as sickness goes, it made me feel pretty shit and not at all like exercising. That’s just me.. and you, and well, most people. However, a *fairly* harmless sore throat actually turned out to be glandular fever and left me in a vegetative state for the first three days. No eating, no drinking, so much pain. Oh, no swallowing. The pain was real! All I did was eat, sleep (lots and lots and lots). I also lost some weight during that time. The next few days were pretty much the same, with constant pain and me waking up at random times during the night, crying, and needing a doctor. Long story short, I was pretty out of action for around two months, and took just under a month off school. When I came back, there was lots of work for me to catch up, but I did just fine, and recently started back up my practices. Here I am now!

 What happens now? <

Start, continue, finish. There, if that’s not a saying, I’ll make it one! I will be continuing my Yoga journey and trying out different videos until I find something that works for me, and then I will most definitely take advantage of that.

And now, because I am such a kid, I’ll attach a video that seems fitting my story ->
