Some exciting news: YouTube+ Blog upgrade!

Welcome back to another post!

Today I’ve got some exciting news to share: I’ve upgraded my blog to the personal blog membership, and I now have my own web domain. I’ve been looking to do this for a while, but didn’t get around to it til yesterday. This means no more ads, for a start, and more themes. Ahh, so satisfying.

And now for the best part of all- I now have a corresponding YouTube account. Why I decided to start one is a story in itself, actually. When I first looked at the plans available, I thought that with the personal plan came the option to be able to upload videos, but I was completely wrong. The disappointment when I found that out this morning was awfully real, but so was the exciting possibility of having a presence on yet another place- first Instagram, then Snapchat, WordPress, of course, and now YouTube.

I have currently set up my account, and I spent about an hour this afternoon personalising it. This evening, I filmed my first video- Part One of a journal flip through. At the moment, that should be uploading. I’m guessing it’ll take a while, so I’ll check back on that tomorrow morning and hopefully I’ll have something to show, haha.

Tomorrow, I’ll be watching some more videos and learning how to edit. If anybody has any video requests, I’ll be more than happy to listen!

Thirteen things I’ve learnt in thirteen years..

Hey lovelies!

I originally intended to make this a birthday post, but I’ve decided I’ll just go with the flow and write what resonates with me. So, let’s get into this! 🌼

1. This is a quote, but it’s definitely something that’s stuck with me, even though I only first read it yesterday..

“Success is the best form of revenge. Be proud, but never satisfied”

I really like this because I can fully get the meaning behind it. For example, if you’re a steady A student at Maths, but success gets to you and you become lazy, your grades will drop.

2. It’s one thing to be born ‘good at something’ and another to make it work for you.

Nothing fancy here, just words with truth behind them. I’ll use myself as an example again. I’ve always been good at English. It’s an easy A for me, and I don’t really have to try as per se. With Maths, it’s the exact opposite. I’ve maintained steady C’s throughout my primary and high school years, but I’m always trying. I’d definitely be more proud of myself if I was to get an A in Maths than in English.

3. Having undying faith in your self and what you believe in is undoubtedly one of the best gifts you can give to yourself.

You are your own biggest supporter and worst enemy. Do everything with great love and stand up for what you believe in, even if you stand alone ❤️

4. The littlest things can make the best memories..

Just the other day, I went out with my mum and we sat down in Parramatta square to a little picnic lunch. The sun was shining and music was playing. It was nothing spectacular, but it was glorious all the same!

5. Trust others, but don’t be naïve!

Unfortunately, I have learnt this lesson the hard way countless times. I’ve trusted people, believing they are different and put myself in the same sad situation time and time again, but that’s life for you. You’re always learning so you can always do better.

6. Cherish and love the people who make your world turn, and NEVER take them for granted.

Over the years, there were people who have came into my life, and whether they were permanent figures or only appeared for a while, they each  impacted me in so many different ways, taught me all I know, and showed me how to love. People aren’t forever, but while they are here, I’ll continue to give back.

7. Be confident, put yourself out there and don’t hold back; use your voice, be the change you want to see.

This is such an important point for me because I’m often thought of as a bit of an introvert, -although anyone who knows me will say I’m the exact opposite!- I enjoy nothing more than being a part of things. It feels good to be included, so I’ll never stop putting my best foot forwards and enjoying life

8. Love and commitment has to be mutual in a relationship, or it won’t work. Plain and simple.

I feel like this point sort of speaks for itself, but I’ll elaborate on this because it’s a tough lesson to learn. Anyone who’s been in my place will understand, it’s so frustrating. You’re doing all the right things and to you, what you’ve got is perfect.. and then you find out that you’re not on the same page as the other person. You’re devastated and rightly so. One thing to remember: It’s not your fault.

9. Have high standards, and don’t lower them for anyone. *READ* (ANYONE)

Just become something *seems* a smart/good/fun idea at the moment, doesn’t mean you should do it. As a general rule, if you wouldn’t say something out loud, refrain. Use that control that you know you have, and your older, more sensible self will never stop thanking you for that.

10. Know the difference between ‘messing around’ and entering the ‘Dangerous territory”

Another crucial point. It’s okay to have fun, but there are some things you need to steer clear of. You can repent all mistakes, and sometimes there is no going back and making better decisions.

11. Do all things, whether big or small, with great, undying LOVE.

This is a personal favourite of mine, and it *may* just be the clue to true happiness. Often, we get so carried away that we forget to put a little bit of us into our everyday life. To unlock our best lives, we need to find the joy in simplicity.

12. Stop labelling yourself!

You are an individual, and therefore you don’t fit into society’s little box. Guess what? That’s okay. Don’t like ‘putting yourself’ out there? What does that even mean? It certainly doesn’t mean that you’re shy. You’ve got a voice, but everybody needs to stop and listen.

13. Without the rain, you’ll never get your rainbow..

Similarly, to feel happiness, you first need to experience pain. How does this work, you ask? You appreciate everything much more when you are aware, and know what you could have had instead.
