Getting older~ ramblings from a busy brain.

Hi everybody!

Today’s post will be fairly short as I just started school for the year, and am still trying to get into the swing of things without adding long, complicated, blog posts that take me five years to plan into the equation. πŸ˜‚

The other day:

Today I went to Ikea to get some plants and bedroom furnishings. Mum suggested we go into the entrance, instead of the exit, even though the plants I needed were all the way over the other side. I’m not sure why, but it was odd. The place was utterly captivating, as usual- hands down, one of my favourite stores.. it’s such fun!- but It felt so tiny, whereas a mere two months ago, it seemed like the twisting pathways would never end.

Problem: You get bigger.. and everything else feels smaller.

And that’s pretty scary.

Also the other day. All 53 days of the holidays that are just gone, actually:

“I swear to all things good and holy, time is speeding up. Yes, I know I’m getting older, but seriously, a freaking stopwatch wouldn’t hurt! I just want to pause time for a bit, pleeease?”

I mean, it feels like I’ve just walked out the school gate, and now I’m back in it. Even two months of school doesn’t pass this fast, and let’s be honest, school goes just like that! I remember being in Year Seven. I remember being freaked out and needing help with my locker. I remember thinking that I’ll never get used to it, but one day I stopped wanting to go back to primary, and that was that!

And this isn’t just a whinge about getting old. This is a whinge because everything seems out of whack, and honestly, if this is what growing up is like, don’t sign me up. Not that I ever actually wanted to be older, though. In fact, each year, I feel like the age I’m turning is so old and I’ll never get used to it, but then it just becomes normal.

Problem: Becoming accustomed to your life slipping away in a small grain of sand between your fingers like manner.

In conclusion, growing up is a trap. Donut go there. I repeat, donut.. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

An interesting Q&A with my lovely pen pal, Molly + a few words regarding ‘Australia Day’.

Hi everybody!

I’d like to start off by saying a few words about Australia day.

What do you think of when you hear those two words?

Celebration, parties (that’s what my neighbours think of, at least!), good food, even better company..

The list goes on.

And here’s the thing.

When we celebrate this holiday, we’re commemorating Australia’s colonisation. The day we claimed this country for ourselves.. when it was already taken.

I may not be of an indigenous background, and heck, maybe I don’t even understand what I’m saying.. but what I do know is that we can do better than this.

Let’s change the date. If we want to be rightfully able to call it Australia day, it needs to be fully inclusive.

We’re all Australians.

Every. single. one. of. us.

You might remember that I asked who’d be interested in being pen pals on here a while back. Well, I’ve got a few now, and one of them happens to be my good friend Molly! Seriously, she’s pretty good. I wish I knew her in real life!

Anyway- she’s given me a list of questions to answer as well as the suggestion to make a post out of it and I think it’s a great idea!

Let’s get into it, shall we?

1. What is your ancestry/where are your family from?

A1. Cool question! I’m maltese / pakistani / australian. My mum’s side is Maltese and my dad’s is Pakistani. And we live here in Australia, so a bit of that too. πŸ™‚

2. Do you prefer summer or winter?

A2. Easy one- summer. But I like it when it’s not too hot, or else I boil. πŸ˜ͺ Then again, whenever it’s winter I’m practically crying for summer, so I can’t complain!

3. Was infinitelyadaydreamer your first blog?

A3. Yes, infinitelyadaydreamer is my first and only blog, which I made four years ago. It had undergone a lot of changes in content and one in name too, so it’s a bit of a different blog, I guess!

4. What is your favourite thing to blog about?

A4. I really enjoy making creative content, so photography / poetry / journalling are probably my top three. In no particular order! Sorry, I couldn’t choose just one! πŸ˜‚

5. If you had to be one age for the rest of your life, what age would you choose?

A5. That’s a really hard one.. I don’t want to be too old, but I want to have some life experience. Maybe around 20? haha x

6. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?

A6. Aria! Definitely Aria. I’ve been obsessed with the name ever since I started to watch Pretty Little Liars- my mum loves it too. 😁

7. How many penpals do you have?

A7. Just two! You, Molly, and another girl. 😊

8. Do you have any pets?

A8. I used to have two budgies, but they both died. My first was a boy, and his name was Peeko. I got him for my seventh birthday, and I was always scared I’d lose him. I didn’t, but my cousin almost did. He let him out and left him to fly away for no good reason. Oh, and he was like, 24? yep. I’m still a bit angry about that incident, even though it’s old news and I got my budgie back. He died about a year and a half ago, and the other bird who we got to keep him company (we named her flora) also died. I also had fish, but a lot started dying/ jumping out of the tank, and we ended up with very few left. It was a very big responsibility because you have to make sure that the water is properly suited to keep the fish alive.

9. What siblings do you have?

A9. I’ve got one brother, Haider, who’s seven and a half.

10. What’s your journalling style?

A10. At the moment I’m doing decorative journalling with life updates occasionally.

11. Fave books any recommendations?

A11. Ooh, yay! a book question. I’d recommend Rupi Kaur’s books, to start with, but I know you’ve got both of them πŸ˜‚ Ultimatum by K.M Walton and All the bright places by Jennifer Niven are very good. 😊

The Blogger Recognition Award πŸ‘§

Hiya lovelies!

Today I’m going to be completing an award post that I was nominated for by the lovelyΒ MollyΒ who also happens to be my good internet friend and pen pal πŸ˜… She’s so lovely and a great person to talk to.

A big thank you to her, and you, for reading this post! ❀ hugs x

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
2. Write a post to show the award.
3. Give a little backstory on how your blog first started.
4. Share two pieces of advice you think new bloggers should know.
5. Nominate five other bloggers for the award and leave a comment on one of
their posts to let them know, along with a link to your award post.

The birth of infinitelyadaydreamer~

You know how when you’re little, you want to do grown up things like have a ‘fun’ job or well, make a blog?

I do, because that’s me.

This is my one and only only blog, but it’s changed a lot over the past four years that I’ve had it. The name, the content. Everything. infinitelyadaydreamer used to be a very basic, very crappy gaming blog where I squealed over things that people probably had no clue about. Awkward.

Anyway. I never left this blog, and I actually find that pretty surprising. But I stuck with it and it sort of grew with me. I asked others for advice that I didn’t always take, I experimented, and what you’re looking at today is the product of all that. I’m very fun loving and young at heart. I like jokes and have a really quirky personality, but I’m mature at the same time. I feel like my blog is a very accurate representation of me, and I love that.

My top two pieces of advice for new bloggers~

1. Find a blogging schedule that works for you. Up until recently, I had no schedule whatsoever. I lived, of course, but It was super weird. Posts at random times of the day. Sometimes I could write for hours, others I had no inspiration. This really helped me to organise my life too! very important.

2. Quality over quantity. It’s a real thing. When you’re starting out, you may feel like you need to post a lot to catch up and start seeing good stats, but that’s not the case. As I said above, scheduling is key. That’s it. If you’re frequent (but not overly so!) and produce high quality content, you needn’t worry about how many likes, comments or follows you receive. It’ll happen.

My nominations~

Vegetarian update + the questions, answered! what do I buy to replace what I won’t use anymore?

Hi friends!

(Nice intro, right? I thought it’d make you more inclined to like this post. πŸ˜‚)

Just kidding!

In today’s post, I’m going to be talking about how I’m going with vegetarianism. You may (hopefully!) remember that I talked about this in an earlier post. I’d link that here, but I’m just going to hope for the best, and anyway, I’m observed in writing this now!

Look forward, not backwards! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

[Quick disclaimer: this post is my personal experience with animal products, and It’s not my intention to offend anybody. No judgement here. πŸ™‚ Just wanted to make that clear!]

Here’s what’s happening:

So far, I feel better.

Now that I don’t eat meat, or much of any other animal product, (I’m looking to move onto veganism when I feel I’m ready, which hopefully won’t be in too long!) I’ve become more aware and compassionate, and the best part?

You might’ve noticed in the title. I said “won’t use” instead of “can’t use.”

That’s because I have a choice. I just choose not to. It’s not something I have to do, It’s something I’m doing because it’s right for me. It’s a decision I know I stand by all the way. I wake up being sure and knowing what I want, and I carry that out.

If nothing else, I want that sort of enlightenment for everybody. That awareness.

This isn’t me glorifying vegetarianism, even. It’s just how it is.

Borders-02 And now that I’ve done a little talking, here’s the fun part of the post!

Hint: it includes pictures!

I’ll be showing you some of the new products I now use in place of my old ones. I found that I had to chuck out a lot of makeup and buy new hair products and the like, but that’s okay. The whole package is a good one, and I do have a bit of a tendency to hold onto things that need to be chucked anyway! (hello, very old mascara. πŸ˜‚)

1. My Lush basket 😍

While this isn’t very full just yet, I have a few baths bombs and other little bits and pieces. Gold toothy tabs with Papaya powder and brazilian orange oil. They sound fancy, right? haha x Seriously though, they’re not half bad. Definitely very fresh and there’s quite a few so I alternate between using coconut oil and these when I brush my teeth. That snow fairy bucket is an ethical bath/play product. I’ve just used it as a sort of grown up playdough so far, but the possibilities are endless. Next, I’ve got a Sugar plum fairy lip scrub, and a cute little lip balm. I’m going shopping next tuesday, so I’m hoping to get some makeup and maybe a new bath bomb from the Lush store!

2. Thank You Body Wash

What I love most about these products is that they aren’t too expensive, the quality is amazing and they’re so accessible! This and the rest of the products above can be bought from your local coles. πŸ™‚ I started using this a while back, and every time I do, I always feel extra fresh and a bit minty. Not a bad sort though, good sort. *wink.*

3. Sukin Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve seen these around but never actually tried them until I stayed with my cousin and used a bit of theirs. πŸ˜‚ I have good hair, but it doesn’t always behave and these were lifesavers! As soon as I got back home, I bought my own. They weren’t exactly the same but still so good! Highly recommend.

4. Sukin Foaming facial cleanser

This is really good at keeping my face clean and dirt/oil free, but they should probably test and make sure that all the pumps on the bottles actually work πŸ˜‚ frustration.

5. Natural Deodorant

My mum was pretty skeptical when she found out I wanted this because she said it wouldn’t do anything at all.. “Well mum, it must. I mean, it’s a good brand, and they can’t really sell a product that doesn’t work!” And I was right, thankfully. It’s pretty good and you smell like perfume. A nice, calm fragrance. Just don’t sweat TOO much, okay?

6. Mr Bean Coffee Scrub

This was the first item I bought and while it is a tad pricey, it’s great. It really does target problem areas and helped with a couple of stretch marks I have πŸ˜ͺπŸ˜€ Oh, and whenever I use it, it’s like I’ve drunk a cup of coffee- instantly wakes you up. Washes off fairly easily, good good and good.

Melbourne/ Victoria Trip: Photo Dump! πŸŒ†πŸ—Ί

Welcome back dreamers!

How fast has this week gone?

It’s already Friday.. that’s not a bad thing, of course. Well, for those of us who are working. For people like me who are on holidays? We’re like, “time, why do you exist? Like, exist, of course, but to our BENEFIT ONLY.”

Right, anyway. I’m getting sidetracked πŸ˜‚

As I mentioned in some of my earlier posts, I was in Victoria for a little over a week, staying with my cousin and his housemate Rachel!

There were quite a few days where we got to go right into Melbourne city though.. on New Year’s Eve and New Years, for example. And I honestly loved it! Ever since last year, I’ve just been wanting to travel non stop (shoutout to my good friends Lauren and Kathryn who actually do that a lot of the time! ☺️) and even though I didn’t even leave the country, it felt like I grew a little as a person and I just feel well, I don’t know, more cultured? Yep.

So this will be fairly simple: I’ll split this post into three parts. I’ve got a poem to start with, then I’ll do a section for photos I took in Victoria, then photos from the time I spent in Melbourne.

PS. Keep a close eye on the channel: infinitelyadaydreamer! I’m posting a Melbourne Vlog.. or trying to. It’s taking a long while, but I assure you it’s worth the wait! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

To be human is to marvel at the rest stops that are the homes of other creatures

To be human is to have glittering stars for eyes, and a mind that roams, ever changing like the waves that grace the shore of many waters, a soul filled with love and a heart brimming with contentment

To be human is not easy

But all beautiful things

Through the seasons of change

And grow through heartbreak and tears and longing

Like a πŸ¦‹

Fresh eyes

Me from A-Z πŸ™‚

Hi there!

I actually saw this idea online. Someone has used it as part of a journaling prompt and i thought it would be cool to make my own. I used canva to make this, taking advantage of all the nice fonts and using a pretty border I downloaded to decorate it. It was a freebie from Lisa Glanz, who has a websiteΒ that you can find here!

I’d definitely recommend making one of your own! It’s all creative work, but if you prefer to take it up a notch, get out your supplies and do it the good old fashioned way with pens, textas, paper and anything else you can think of.Β  πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

Anyone who knows me knows that I love words.. and anything else creative. It’s so much fun, great for your health, and it’s also very personal and unique! We often have an idea of what we’re like, a bit of this, bit of that, but how often do we lump all that awesomeness all together into one pretty picture?

I’d love to see yours if you try this!

PS. I challenge you to do something self love related.. today, I bought myself a small bunch of flowers from a florist in Parramatta!
