Hello lovelies!
The other day I sat down to read the first book, love her wild, by poet atticus. Naturally I could not just read without thinking or feeling, so I did all three. I ended up writing. It felt like exactly what I needed in that moment. Inspiration to put pen to paper and share about something beautiful. I don’t usually write about happy things, at least not in my poetry. The depth of feeling is sometimes harder to access. I ended up bringing myself back to moments where I was just brimming with joy and gratitude for life, blessings and my loved ones. Really, most of these were written with my partner in mind.
Except in the case
of you and I
I have never known loss to be
a catalyst for gain
We love
because living in vulnerability
shows us richness of the soul
awakens the heart and lifts
its ivy covered
chains
behold what is beyond
I am made of all the glorious pieces of
you
just as you
all the glorious pieces of me
Together we stage a reckoning
a righting of all wrongs
then
we come alive in each other’s wholeness
revel in shared strength
we embrace moments of lightness
a symphony of hearts
beating to the same tune
We are strange in love
it sends shivers down my spine
all our experiences in this mortal coil
they make up a mere
fraction of all we will be
Your very being
beckons me
leading me further into this
beautiful mess of yours
fairy lights on twine
All those twists and turns
you hold an end
trail the remaining length behind you
we walk deeper into the forest
safe in the knowledge
we are guided by the glow
Honestly and often
that was the manner in which
he spoke of
my brown eyes
deep chocolate recesses
in which he found himself
constantly and hopelessly
lost in
Maryam, these poems that you wrote are absolutely beautiful! I see myself in you and I know that’s a weird thing to say, since I think that I am younger than you! But, your poems have so many deeper messages behind the words and I admire how effortlessly you weaved in stories through each stanza and line. I especially loved the first poem and the words that you chose. In poetry, one word that you choose to put in or leave out, can make all the difference, but each one of your purposeful words was placed so perfectly well! I’m in love with these poems Maryam and I can’t wait to read more of your poems!
Thank you so much for the praise and encouragement Manasa. I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed my poetry and felt the words resonated with you! I don’t share much of my musings on here but I’d like to get in the habit of it. All my poetry comes to me on a whim and ends up stuck in my notes!
These are beautiful! If you ever share more of your poetry, I would love to read it 🙂
I really like the third poem, especially. All of them are amazing, but that one is just so well written. 🙌❤
I’m always so happy reading your lovely comments! I’m glad you thought so. I don’t share much of my poetry but I should get in the habit of it! x
You’re welcome, Maryam! x
Amazing! I would love to read more!
Thank you so much x
Aww Maryam, This is just beautiful. I so love the second verse.. “Living in vulnerability shows us how rich our souls are…”. Beautiful poem Maryam and I can’t wait to read more xx
So darn sweet, thank you Ella! This post has been so well received. I need to share my poetry more often rather than relegating it to my notes section!
This is so beautiful!! Each line speaks volumes + tells of a strong love and that is a lovely message to put out into the universe ✨ My favourite part is: I have never known loss to be a catalyst for gain. Truly Fantastic! 🙌💕
Made me smile big this morning! Thank you for always supporting what I love to do Elsie xx
I love these! It’s so poignant, the emotion and love in them … as I was reading, these called all those warm feelings I have for my partner to mind. “I am made of all the glorious pieces of you, just as you all the glorious pieces of me” especially resonated with me. That’s what I think love at its best often is – sharing the best and most vulnerable parts of yourself and in turn learning the most beautiful parts of someone else
What a sweet and heartwarming comment. Thank you so much Mia. You are wonderful! I’m so glad these poems resonated so deeply with you and called to your mind similar feelings you have for your partner! He’s very lucky to have you!
Majority of my poetry is relegated to the notes section of my phone. Maybe I’ll have to change that! x
beautiful
