Hello Jorja! Thank you for agreeing to this interview. First off, can you tell us about you and your blog? How did you get started and what are your passions?
My blog is all about fashion, lifestyle and beauty. I started my website early this year. It has been amazing to see how much I’ve grown as a writer and in gathering a community. I had always wanted to start a blog and this year I finally did it! I started my blog as I have a passion for writing and wanted to pursue that. I wished to dedicate time into taking it further. I also have a passion for style- combining different colours and textures is something that I love to do!
What is your philosophy on life and why?
This is such a great question! My philosophy on life is that what is meant to be will be. I aim to identify the events, roadblocks and achievements in my life and try to understand how they help me become the best version of myself that I can be.
When things don’t go my way or as planned, I like to remind myself that there is always a reason behind what happens in life. This could be to allow for a learning experience or redirection. This philosophy was adopted after I started blogging, where I gained greater confidence and started to express myself through my writing.
What does your creative process look like? Where do you draw inspiration from?
My creative process involves lots of note-taking and the consumption of content that inspires and encourages me. This comes from other teen bloggers, the world around me and my experiences. Most of the time, my motivation is based on the fact that I can use every opportunity to learn something new!
Where do you live and what is the best thing about your hometown?
I live in the beautiful country of Australia. I can truly say that being an Aussie is one of the coolest things ever! Sometimes I take it for granted but the beaches, wildlife and the people are some of the most interesting and amazing features of it.
What childhood memories have stayed with you throughout the years?
Some childhood memories that have stayed with me throughout the years is my time spent travelling. One that sticks out is meeting Minnie Mouse at Disneyland California. I was so excited- I laugh every time I see the pictures of my Minnie ears and my front tooth missing!
Where have you travelled to so far? Share a story from one of your trips.
I am blessed to have travelled to Europe and America as well as a little bit around Australia. Travelling is something heavily involved in my dream career. Witnessing the Opera Singers outside of the Pantheon in Italy is something that I will never forget. The glow of the city lights, the aroma of the food- there is nothing like it!
How did you become interested in Journalism and Public Relations? What do you imagine this career would entail?
My dream career involves writing and travelling. I want to live my life learning and creating. A writer, editor or publicist are just some of the options I am considering. My blog only strengthened my drive to follow my ideal career path and has inspired me to continue striving for my goals.
You’ve mentioned undertaking work experience at your local newspaper. How were you selected for this and what did you learn during your time there? What opportunities were made available to you?
It was an incredible experience working at my local newspaper. I learnt how different kinds of people interact with each other, how communities share values and what kind of opportunities are out there for me. It was a really big learning curve!
I was selected for the position after an interview with the editor. At the end of my time there, I was told that I should pursue journalism and that if I worked for it, I could get to where I want to be. This is true for every person who wants to pursue their dream career!
What makes you feel accomplished and confident? What do you like to do on a self-care day?
I feel accomplished knowing that I’ve tried my best. Knowing that you put in the time and effort and have taken a step in learning about the person you are is what motivates me. I would encourage people to keep a journal and write down hopes and inspirations related to the goal they have set! My self-care day involves lots of laughing, relaxation and chocolate! Spending the day shopping or hanging out with my friends sounds perfect!
When have you felt like you were living life to the fullest? When have you felt like you weren’t? What do you find great meaning and purpose in?
At the beginning of the year, I wore a letter to myself. I forgot about it for a while but was so proud going over it again. Some of the goals that I set at the beginning of the year I had accomplished- I realised that my past self would be so pleased if she could see me right now! Looking back to a few years ago, I now realise I wasn’t living for myself but for others. Now, I try to build a life for myself that I will be confident in later on.

I loved reading this interview piece- I’m a student journalist trying to pave my own path in the world of journalism. Its refreshing to read about other teenagers/ young adults on the same journey as me!
That’s so great to hear! Thank you very much for reading. How did you get into journalism? I’ve had lots of people recommend it to me as a career to pursue! While I enjoy writing immensely and blogging has my heart, I’ll probably stick to interior design though x
