We need to normalise starting over where needed and refuse to label situations in a black and white manner when they are neither innately good or bad. Let’s stop assigning so many labels and try and see things at face value for what they are and what they’ll mean moving forward. Beginning a new chapter can speak to your growth, healing. Sometimes it’s better to leave what is broken than to hurt ourselves trying to pick up the pieces.

“A great part of your everyday life will be spent in a state where nothing significant seems to happen. If someone bases his or her happiness and unhappiness on external factors and major events like a job promotion, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a world trip, that person isn’t going to be happy a lot of the time.

A list of things I love: flowers, the smell of rain on a summer day, waking up with time still left to sleep, family, hanging out with friends, scream singing to my favourite songs, steamy showers, watching the snow fall, sunrises, sunsets, fires in the fireplace, Christmas time, Christmas music, Christmas movies.

If you start living for the smallest reasons, that’s when you’ll know you’re getting the most from this life. The smell of rain after a thunderstorm, the crunchy colourful leaves pavements when it’s autumn, the harvest season and the unspoken competition to pick the freshest tomatoes, the mediocre midnights and the colour of the sunsets, the smell of fresh bakery goods early in the morning. The frosty breeze of the fast approaching winter. The golden glow and warmth from the oven when you bake cookie, the shadows that dance on your walls and shapes that flicker in the afternoon sunlight, the thickness of paper when flicking through magazine pages, the crispness and smell of new things in general. When you start looking at things, really really looking with your heart and not just your eyes, you’ll start living. Then you’ll understand how amazing it is to be alive and surrounded by all these people 🥰

To borrow the words of @daniellelaporte “You will always be too much of something for someone. Too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. If you smooth out your edges, you lose your edge. Apologise for mistakes. Apologise for intentionally hurting someone. Be profuse. Just never apologise for being who you are. Don’t present a watered down version of who you could be out of fear of rejection. I have never met someone who is living a bold and successful life- and by successful I mean prosperous, kind and in touch with the meaningfulness of what they’re doing- who has apologised for being perfectionistic, mercurial, unrelenting or whatever their slightly controversial hallmark characteristic is.”

If I could offer you one piece of advice to hold in your heart, it would be to appreciate every second you have with what you love, be they places, objects, people, experiences. Cherish them and hold tight to the awareness that these moments are fleeting, almost illusory. Our minds are like photo books. Snippets of these seconds of time arrive in flashes when you are most unsuspecting. They creep up, blanket you in warmth and remind you to hold tight to what matters. Be vulnerable, cherish wholeheartedly, air your grievances less, love harder. Your intensity is not a character flaw.

When is the last time you reflected on the qualities your ideal romantic partner would possess or the traits that stand out to you most in the person you’re currently seeing? Having recently begun online dating for the first time, these are questions I’m asking myself.

One day you’re going to realise that happiness was never about you’re job, the achieving the highest degree or entering into a relationship. Happiness, the ultimate inner job, was never about following in the footsteps of those who came before you. It was never about keeping tradition, keeping the peace. Someone wise once said that keeping the peace around you can mean the ultimate sacrifice. A lack of peace inside of you. Happiness was never about being like the others.

Life is meant to be lived. You have to chase the things that ignite you, do the things that bring you insurmountable joy. You have to surround yourself with the people who bring you back home to yourself, who understand your essence. The people who respect and embrace you in ways that reassure you of just how loved, worthy, held and wanted you are. You have to do the work to heal yourself, even when it hurts. Perhaps especially so at this time. Why continue to approach your life within the boundaries of what is heavy within you? You have to put yourself out there and you cannot worry about what people will think. You cannot rob yourself of experience, inspiration and happiness because you are scared of how you’ll be perceived.

We are on the same frequency energetically as flowers, animals, the ocean, sky and nature itself. All things we appreciate without the expectation of them changing. Sometimes we can lose touch and perceive ourselves differently, forgetting the impact we are capable of having on our life and the people in our circles.

When it is time for something new, you will feel it. You will feel a desire to let go, to shed layers, to move, to recreate. You will know because there will be subtle shifts occurring all around you. You will release the old because you are clearing the paths for what’s ahead, what’s to come. Trust this process. Know that there is a plan in place and life doesn’t take anything from us unless there is something else imminently awaiting its replacement.

“What is the use of planning to be able to eat next week unless I can really enjoy the meals when they come? If I am so busy planning what to eat next week that I cannot fully enjoy what I’m eating now, I will be in the same predicament when next week’s meals become now. If my happiness in this moment consists largely in reviewing happy moments and expectations, I am but dimly aware of this present. I shall still be dimly aware of the present when the good things that I have been expecting come to pass. For I shall have formed a habit of looking behind and ahead, making it difficult to attend to the now. If my awareness of the past and future makes me less aware of the present, I must begin to wonder if I’m living in the real world.

You are free to be who you were created to be. While the world will do its best to define you, telling you who to be, how to act, what to think, remember this simple truth. Every fibre of your being was designed with purpose and intention. The way you think, communicate ideas and express yourself has a unique and positively electric combination that is unlike anybody else.
