First Light, My Muse: Your Monday Encouragement (10/5/21)

In the end, I’ve come to believe in something I call The Physics of the Quest. A force in nature governed by laws as real and inevitable as the law of gravity. The rule of quest physics goes something like this: If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter old resentments and set out on a truth seeking journey, whether externally or internally, consciously or unconsciously, if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you- Liz Gilbert 🌴

How to be happy: don’t compare your actual self to a hypothetical self. Don’t drown in a sea of what if’s. Don’t clutter your mind by imagining other versions of you, in parallel universes, where you make different decisions.

You ruin your life by desensitising yourself. We are all afraid to say too much, to feel too deeply, to let people know what they mean to us. A caring heart and passion for what you do, say or believe in is not synonymous with being crazy.

Let it go, forgive. As humans, the one thing we can all recognise is that we are imperfect. There’s not one ounce of us that can live up to the standard of perfection. To think that we could would be a romantic and utopian thought.

Cut out the noise and listen to your intuition- in this place where you find yourself unsure, take time to imagine what you want to see, feel and experience. Take time to cut out the noise and madness of the outside world and listen to your intuition calling, a voice from within, encouraging you to delve deeper.

It is okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth. Even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then. In fact, struggle is a sure sign to them that they are expanding. It is their indication of real and important progress.

If you are in a tangle of emotions after a disappointment and you are trying to stay positive and look forward while also grieving what was lost, just know that this is all a part of being human. And as hard as it is right now, it does not make you any less worthy of the good experiences that are still possible.

Maybe it’s not supposed to be easy for you. Maybe you’re one of the rare few who can handle tough times and still choose to be a loving person. Maybe things are going the way they are because you’re built for it.

Being content isn't about settling for less than what you wish you had. Being content is realising that there is beauty all around you even before you get where you want to be.

When you feel weak and overly frustrated about the things you can’t yet do, wishes you can’t seem to achieve, time you cannot turn back, talents you aren’t acquiring as easily as you’d hoped, take heed.

Hold on tight to hope when chaos ensues around you and you’re not sure what is going to happen in the future. Take a deep breath. Centre yourself in peace. Hold fast to the hope that no matter what, good things are coming up ahead.

Be patient towards all that is unsolved in your heart and try to learn to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not constantly seek the answers in this present moment as they cannot be given to you.

I’ve learnt that no matter what happens, or how bad it all seems, life does go on and you will wake up feeling better and with a new perspective tomorrow. I’ve learnt that you can tell a lot about a person from the way they handle three things- a rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights.

The sweetest of slow days with @tessguinery and her words of comfort- When I say I need time alone, what I really mean is that I want to move all the furniture around and then move it all back. I want to paint something and leave the brushes to bristle all because I decided to go wash my hair. I’ll forget to take my multi vitamins- I was busy trying on dresses.

Take control of your thoughts. It’s not always easy, granted. It takes strength. However, just like anybody can become physically strong, anyone can develop mental fortitude through effort and practice. This will become your new normal and come to feel natural over time.

I hope you find what you’re looking for out there. I hope you find the kind of happiness that exists on your own terms. I hope you truly take the time to figure out what moves you, what encourages your soul, what you deeply crave from life and I hope you have the courage to chase that.
