First Light, My Muse: Your Monday Encouragement (13/9/21)

Here’s how to let go when you really want to hold on tight: First, remember that it’s okay to outgrow people, places and things. In fact, it’s inevitable. It’s okay for them to outgrow you too. We are on the same journey here but taking distinctly different paths. Allow yourself to really grieve the loss of what you’re letting go of. You can’t heal when you don’t let yourself feel. Be kind to your anger.

When trying to rediscover your identity, ask the following questions of yourself:

We are on the same frequency energetically as flowers, animals, the ocean, sky and nature itself. All things we appreciate without the expectation of them changing. Sometimes we can lose touch and perceive ourselves differently, forgetting the impact we are capable of having on our life and the people in our circles.

Noticing an increase in feelings of anxiety or overthinking lately? Here’s a strategy to tackle worry and remain in the driver’s seat of your life. Don’t let yourself be ruled by debilitating, demanding thoughts that drain you of mental capacity and a clear head. I recently learnt about tactic called the worry tree. You begin by acknowledging your worry. Chances are you’ve sensed its presence and are either entertaining the thought, numbing it or pushing it away with distractions or coping mechanisms. Just make space for it to exist. Simple.

I’m not interested in the kind of growth that asks me to overcome everything I’ve ever experienced in order for it to be valid. I’m interested in the kind of growth that honours all iterations and versions of me, that holds complexity and makes space for detours, u-turns and unexpected paths along the way.

Left Brain Versus Right Brain quote- how thoughtful is this? 🧐

You relax on a plane even though you don’t know the pilot. You relax on a ship even though you don’t know the captain. You relax on the bus or train even though you don’t know the driver. That begs the question.. why not relax as your life begins to unfold?

Beautiful, encouragement filled words from Ralph Waldo Emerson- Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely with too high a spirit to be cumbered with old nonsense. This new day is too dear with its hopes and invitations to waste a moment on the yesterdays.

If you’re wondering what you should do with your life, it’s like you’re in that limbo state between realising you don’t want what you once did and giving yourself permission to want what you want now.

Just sharing some of my favourite morning routine ideas🌻 you could pray, read your bible or other religious texts, a novel or some poetry, say hello to your animals and plants, make your bed, open your curtains, cleanse your face and brush your teeth, go outside and breathe for a few minutes, go for a walk or to the gym, drink a glass of water, do something that fuels your creativity like journaling, painting or blogging, brew a fresh cup of coffee or tea, make yourself anything your heart desires for breakfast, eat outdoors, connect with family and friends and be present, carefully choose an outfit that is comfortable + well fitting and empowering for the day, apply makeup if desired, put on your favourite perfume, tidy up your space, pack the things you will need for your day and, finally, make a list of three things you’d ideally like to achieve by night time xx

In the end, I’ve come to believe in something I call The Physics of the Quest. A force in nature governed by laws as real and inevitable as the law of gravity. The rule of quest physics goes something like this: If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter old resentments and set out on a truth seeking journey, whether externally or internally, consciously or unconsciously, if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you- Liz Gilbert 😊

To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. To be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us and strengthens us for any difficulty life can throw at us.

You ruin your life by desensitising yourself. We are all afraid to say too much, to feel too deeply, to let people know what they mean to us. A caring heart and passion for what you do, say or believe in is not synonymous with being crazy.
